Lil Wayne To Be Honored With The 2018 BET "I Am Hip Hop" Award

The artist will add the honor to his 14 BET Hip Hop awards.

As fans wait for Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated 12th studio album Tha Carter V, the Young Money artist is set to be honored with the “I Am Hip Hop" award next month at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards, Billboard reports.

Wayne joins fellow hip-hop legends MC. Lyte, Snoop Dogg, and Doug. E Fresh as an honoree.

In his 20+ year career, the artist has racked up five Grammys, 14 BET Hip Hop Awards, and four Billboard Music Awards. Earlier this year Wayne was released from his Cash Money contract after a long saga of financial disputes and strained relationship with Birdman dating back to before 2014. He is now the sole owner of Young Money.

Nominations for BET’s annual Hip Hop Awards circulated the web this week; Wayne’s project Dedication 6: Reloaded is also nominated for Best Mixtape.

This year's awards will return to The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater on October 6.
