J.I.D Returns With His Latest Project ‘DiCaprio 2’
The 2018 XXL Freshman dropped the follow up to his 2015 EP 'DiCaprio.'
A year after his Dreamville Records debut, East Atlanta lyricist J.I.D dropped his second studio album DiCaprio 2 on Sunday night.
The 14-track release features appearances from A$AP Ferg, BJ The Chicago Kid, Joey Badass, and Method Man. DiCaprio 2 also features an R&B-heavy track featuring fellow Interscope signees Ella Mai and 6LACK titled “Tiiied.” Dreamville Records founder J.Cole is featured on “Off Deez,” a track J.I.D previewed in November on Instagram Live during a studio session with Cole. Cole also has production credits on “Skrawberries”
The late Mac Miller worked heavily alongside J.I.D on DiCaprio 2 before his passing and has production credits on the album. Earlier this fall, J.I.D opened Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life, a tribute show for the late rapper.
In an interview with Complex News, the 2018 XXL Freshman spoke on wanting to make DiCaprio 2 better than its 2015 predecessor, DiCaprio. He also spoke a bit about why he named his project after actor Leonardo DiCaprio, saying "my end result is me trying to get into film, writing and directing."
In a tweet Sunday night shortly after the project's release, J.I.D thanked fans for their paitence waiting on the album for being a part his journey.
