Get Away Clean was the second release on No Limit Records, a record store and independent label opened by Master P in Richmond, CA. The 13-track album served as Master P's debut solo album and featured guest appearances from P's group The Real Untouchables a.k.a. T.R.U.

The album was originally recorded in 1990, but wasn't officially released on CD until February 12, 1991—it had originally been released on casette before its debut, but the exact date is unclear.

Get Away Clean later saw an official reissue in 1998 via No Limit Records and the Oakland-based In-A-Minute Records.
